These soft hangers are Christmas gifts for my girl friends. I got an idea when I saw how neatly pressed shirt gets wrinkles in sleeve area when hanged on custom hanger. I needed something softer, more around to keep shirt's form.

Uzela sam stare drvene vješalice i odlučila ih malčice preurediti.
So I took old wooden hangers and decided to rearrange them a little bit.

Upotrijebila sam najobičniju spužvu debljine 1 cm.
I used 1 cm thick foam.

Spužvu sam presavinila na duplo.
I folded that piece of foam to double.

U sredini takve presavinute spužve napravila sam rupicu i provukla metalni dio, nosač. Lijevi i desni kraj spužve sam malo škarama zaoblila, pa sam ručno sašila spužvu.
In the middle of folded foam I made a little hole and pull through this metal part of the hanger. Then I carved left and right end of the foam with the scissors to round them up a little bit, and hand stitched all together.
And that's how the hangers are made, they only needed to be "suited up".

Dakle, trebao mi je kroj. Uzela sam željeni materijal, precrtala oblik vješalice olovkom,
So, I needed a pattern. I used the material I wanted, outlined the hanger's shape with pencil,

did the sam thing with the other side, trimmed the material's excess,

i dobila ovu "haljinicu".
and got this hanger's "skirt".

Sad sam sa koncem labavim bodom prošila oko rubova vješalice.
I used very loose stitches around the hangers.

Ovako nekako.
Something like this.

I kad sam materijal preokrenila naopako,
And when I turned the material inside out,

dobila sam obrise kroja!
I got this pattern outline!

Jednom kad sam dobila kroj, mogla sam ga koristiti za sve vješalice jer su sve bile slične.
Mašinski sam sašila gornji dio "haljinice", a skroz donji dio nisam.
Once I got this pattern I was able to use it on every hanger.
I mashine sew upper part of this hanger's "skirt", not the bottom.

I made a hole on the "skirt" to pull through this metal part, which I also dressed up in sewed ribbon. I glued the bottom part.

Još sam jednom savinula materijal i pažljivo zaljepila, da donekle uredno izgleda.
I folded that material once more and glued it again, so it looks neater.

Ukrasila sam ih mašnicama i dobila prave ženske, meke vješalice.
I put some ribbons on and got these girly, soft hangers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sad me se moraju sjetiti svako juro kad otvore ormar :)
Now they have to think of me every morning when they open up their closets :)
One Lovely Blog Award
Prošli tjedan sam dobila ovu nagradu od Klaudije sa Hobby by Dija, a nakon par dana stigla je i od Bojane sa Bojanine tvorevine !
Klaudijin blog je pun krasnih heklanih uradaka, toplo preporučujem. Malo sam i ljubomorna jer ja za heklanje nemam nimalo smisla. Jednostavno ne ide.
A Bojana sa druge strane doslovno rastura svojim quillingom, tehnikom rolanja papira za koji, ruku na srce, nisam ni znala da postoji dok nisam doputovala u blogosvemir. I za to je potrebno imati mirnu ruku i dooobre živce!
Last week I got this blog award from Klaudija at Hobby by Dija, and couple of days later, another one from Bojana at Bojanine tvorevine !
Klaudija's blog is full of wonderful crotchet, I truly recommend it. I am kind of jelous because I can't crochet at all. Just dosn't work for me.
And Bojana at the other hand, is such a  master of quilling techique, that I didn't know it exists untill I came to this Bloguniverse. I bet it takes steady hand and lots of nerves!
Nagrada ima neka pravila koja nisu uopće strašna:)
1. Link do bloga odakle je nagrada i zahvaliti se na nagradi,
2. Napisati 7 stvari o sebi,
3. Proslijediti nagradu na 15 blogova i  obavjestiti blogerice o njoj.
This blog award has some rules, that are not that scary to follow :)
1. Link to the blog where the award came from, and proper thank you note,
2. Write 7 things about youself,
3. Forward it to the next 15 blogs and inform blogger colleagues about it.
Evo neke  činjenice o meni:
1. Volim maškare. I pravljenje kostima. I iščekivanje drugih kostima. I maškaranu povorku. I vjerovatno sve vezano za maškare.
2. Pokladni utorak bih proglasila polu-radnim danom, da mogu. Tako da svi ljudi mogu raditi do podne, lipo ručati, preobući se u svoj kostim i izaći u povorku u 3 sata. Pa na ples.
3. Volim crvenu boju. Na meni, oko mene, na drugim ljudima, u prirodi. Već razmišljam o tome da i neki post posvetim toj ljubavi.
4. Kad sam nervozna ili pod stresom, onda čistim. Kad sam super, onda nešto čačkam, šijem, krpam, param, bojam, crtam. Uglavnom nisam nervozan tip, pa mi je stan uvijek u kreativnom neredu. Dok su djeca bila manja, mislila sam se kako bih ih našla ako roba za peglanje padne na njih. Sad su veliki i znali bi se sami izvući, tako da je taj problem rješen.
5. Dobra sam u slasticama. Prijateljici (i kumi) sam napravila tortu za svadbu. Imala sam strašnu tremu. Dok sam bila tamo, jela se. Što je poslije bilo, ne znam.
6. Imam jedan veliki plan, a to je napraviti kuću u skoroj budućnosti. I napraviti, sašiti, restaurirati, obojati, posložiti sve što je potrebno, sami. Vlastiti uradak, po našim potrebama.
7. Volim razveseliti ljude nekim sitnicama, od srca. Za koji dan ću objaviti koji post o njima.
Here are some random facts about me:
1. I really really love masquerade. And costume making. And waiting to see other people's costumes. And masquerade procession. And everything that is related to that happening.
2. I would proclaim Shrove Tuesday a half-working day, so people could work untill noon, come home for a lunch, dress up in their costumes and all meet at 3 P.M. for a rally. And dancing afterwards.
3. I love red color. On me, around me, on other people, in a nature. I am thinking about dedicating some posts to that love of mine.
4. When I am nervous or stressed out, I clean. When I am great, I make things, sew, drew, paint, craft. I am not a nervous kind of person, so my flat is always in some kind of creative mess. When my kids were smaller, I would think through how could I possibly find them if that huge pile of clothes waiting for ironing would fall on them. But, they got bigger now and I guess they could find their way out, so that problem is solved.
5. I am good in baking cakes. When I was my friend's maid of honor, I baked her a cake for wedding reception. I had huge jitters. At the time I was around, people used to eat it. What happend when I left off, I don't know.
6. I have a big plan for my family, and that is to build our own house in near future. But not only to built, but to make, sew, restaurate, paint everything. Our own work, by our own needs.
7. I like to cheer people up by giving something small, but from the heart. In few days I will probably post something like that.
Nagradu ću proslijediti na slijedećih 5 blogova iz razloga što je velika većina mojih blogerica je već dobila, a i po odabiru blogova ćete vidjeti da ću nagradu donekle poslati u bijeli svijet.
Nagradu dobiva:
  • Mihaela sa MeehaMeeha jer me fascinira njezin smisao za dizajn,
  • Sparkle sa Elle Crafts jer mi se sviđaju njeni radovi,
  • Emily sa Nap-time Creations jer mi je izvor inspiracije,
  • Maja sa Maja Patchwork jer obožavam patchwork i quilting,
  • Ivana sa Anaivglam koja mi je više nego ljubazno poslala jedan recept kad sam je zamolila, bez obzira što nije znala o kojoj se luđakinji radi.
I will forward this award to this 5 bloggers, mainly for the reason that most of my blogging friend got this award these days, and I kind of want to sent this award to some other countries.
So, the award goes to:
  • Mihaela at MeehaMeeha because I am fascinated by her talent of design,
  • Sparkle at Elle Crafts because I like her work,
  • Emily at Nap-time Creations because she is source of inspiration to me,
  • Maja at Maja Patchwork because I love patchwork and quilting,
  • Ivana at Anaivglam who was kind enough to e-mail me some recipe that I asked her to.
Uživajte!
Enjoy!
Xmas angels / Božićni anđeli
Evo nešto u Božićnom duhu! Božićni anđeli!
Here's something in Christmas spirit! Christmas angels!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Napravimo ih onda!
So if angels could be angels, they ought to have proper wings.
Let's make some!
We should have some pattern for wings,
this pattern was given to me by my cousin.
But it is not complicated to copy, at all.

Trebamo iskrojiti par krila, dakle, 2 komada.
We need a pair of wing, therefore we cut out 2 pieces.
Before we sew left and right wing, and before we sew them together, let's
insert some ribbon at the top, so we can actually wear wings later.
Sa donje strane umetnimo i ovakve "omče".
Na njih ćemo vezati onu vrpcu spomenutu na prethodnoj slici.
Ova ćemo krila nositi kao ruksak.
Sasvim dolje, ostavimo otvor.
At the bottom of the wings, make sure to insert these "hoops".
We will tie the ribbons mentioned at last photo to them.
We will wear this wings as if backpack.
Don't sew the very bottom!

Kad smo krila preokrenuli na pravu stranu, nacrtamo ovakve linije.
Draw lines like these on the right side of material.

Sad, napunimo krila punjenjem za jastuke i zašijmo otvor.
Now, stuff the wings with pillow stuffings and sew the oppening.

Sada prošijte po onim iscrtanim linijama.
Now, sew on these lines mentioned earlier.

Wings are done!
Now you should place them on angels' backs :)

  Želimo vam jako jako sretne praznike!
We wish you very merry holidays!
Ana & angels

GlassesUSA review

Looking at me, you would not know I wear eyeglasses (in most of my pictures, I have my contact lenses).  I have been wearing glasses ever since I was 10 years old (and that's a looong time). After I was older, I remember getting contact lenses. But when I'm home, I like to wear my glasses.

When GlassesUSA.com asked me to review their website, I was excited to check out their selection. I was amazed at the variety of choices which included everything from every day glasses to non-reflective lenses and even glasses with UV protection. They have so many cheap eyeglasses, and you can sort the glasses by gender, frame type, frame shape and lens type.

They have this awesome feature on their website called the virtual mirror where you can upload a photo or take a photo of yourself with your webcam and "try on" the glasses. My daughter and I had a great time playing around with this feature. She wanted me to try on every pair because she thought it was so fun!

Why wouldn't you try it yourself ? :)
Zašto i same ne bi probale ? :)

So I found this pair of glasses that suited me the best!

Clicking on its image, you can find some more informations about them; how long they are, how wide etc., and the best part is that all measurement are in milimeters (mm); great for European customers! Also, another great feature on their website is that all prises can convert from US dollars to Euros! That makes shopping even easier for us!

They make ordering  eyeglasses online process super easy, and in a few short clicks, you can select the frames you like, provide information about what your glasses are used for, select the lens thickness best suited for your needs, and choose which eye and lens protections (such as anti-scratch, anti-reflective coating, transitions,etc) are right for you. Next, simply input your prescription lens information and ordering process is finished!

Besides their high quality frames and lenses, they offer a 110% lowest price guarantee and a 100% satisfaction guarantee along with a generous refer-a-friend program.
Additionally, you can stay up-to-date on all GlassesUSA.com happenings through their Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/glassesusa) and their Twitter feed (@GlassesUSA).

I’m still not sure if online glasses shopping is right for me, but it’s certainly a great option to have.

St. Nicholas has arrived!

Prije puno godina, dok Djed Mraz još nije sa Sjevernog pola pronašao naše malo mjesto,
Sveti Nikola je dolazio djeci i stavljao im poklone na prozor.
Many many years ago, long before Santa Clause found his way to our little village,
Saint Nicholas used to put childrens' presents on the window.

My kids put their most biggest boots on a window last night.
And this is what they were waiting for:

Sveti Nikola je došao, svakom je donio po nešto i, za svaki slučaj, šibu.
St. Nicholas has arrived, put some presents into boots and a small twig, just in case.

St. Nicholas was a bishop who was born in a wealthy family
and who donated all his material possesions to the poor.
He is also a patron of children and sea men.
That's whay he always comes to our village by ship.
Children are waiting for him at the pear.
(This photos were taken 11 yrs ago, when my daughter
was in kindergarten.)
With St. Nicholas comes a little devil - Krampus.
He has a chains to scare off the children.
Nowadays they are plastic, but they were real in past time.
Krampus also has a lot of twings,
he gives those to children that weren't good.

i najčešće nosi bijelu odjeću.
Djeci dijeli poklone.
Since St. Nicholas was a bishop, he has a bishop hat,
usually wears white clothes and has a bishop cane.
He gives children presents.
Neka djeca se plaše Krampusa.
Some kids are scared of Krampus.
Neka djeca uživaju.
Some kids enjoy themselfes.
What about the parents?
Well, we too have got our presents.
But, I belive twings for Moms and Dads are obligatory as well.
Nadamo se da će Sveti Nikola doći i slijedeće godine.
We hope that St. Nicholas will find his way to our home again next year.

source: Internet
Ideja!
Orahnjaču, ali ne običnu, nego ovako izrezanu!
Great idea!
I just make a cake looking like that!

This is my receipe, that I often use:

  • 500 g flour
  • 50 g sugar
  • vanilla flavored sugar (one little bag)
  • salt
  • yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1,25 dcl mild warm milk
  • 100 g butter
  •  mix everything together and let it rise
  • 500 g walnut
  • 200 g sugar
  • 2 dcl milk
  • some rum, cinnamon
  • I didn't have enough walnut today, so I cut everything  in half
  • put everything in a bowl and on low heat and cook for few minutes
  • bake on 180°C for 40 minutes or less, untill it gets golden
  • few spoons of mermelade cook in little bit of water, glaze as soonest as it gets out of the oven
I tako je nastao advenski kolač,
u obliku adventskog vijenčića :)
And so this Advent cake appeared,
in a shape of an Advent wreath :)

Marine Advent wreath / Morski adventski vjenčić

Ove godine sam odlučila napraviti nešto "morsko".
This year I have decide to make "marine" like wreath.
Kupila sam bež svječice i ukrasni konopac,
pronašla slamnati vijenac i postolja za svijeće.
I bought 4 beige candles and decorative rope,
find my straw form and candles' holders.
Prošetala se oko kuće i nabrala tri vrste smrike,
odnosno obične borovice, kadulju, maslinove grančice
i grančice magunje, odnosno planike.
I took a walk around my house and cut some olive tree brenches,
some sage, hree different kinds of Common Juniper
and some Strawberry tree brenches.
Arbutus unedo (strawberry tree, occasionally cane apple)
is an evergreen shrub or small tree, native to the Mediterranean region.
In October it has red berries that we use for  mermelade
and brandy production.
 Grančice sam uvukla u slamu.
I put all of those brenches into straw form.
 Dodala sam svječice i mašne od konopca.
Then I put candles and rope bows.
 I dodala neke morske stvari;
And put some "marine" stuff;
 kućice od morskog ježa,
sea urchin,
 morske zvijezde, jednog volka (rplja, kažemo mi)
starfish and a winkle,
 školjke - to su kućice (po našu - kunjke)...
 some shells...
Marine Advent wreath on sea side.
I am so sorry that this day wasn't brighter,
everything looks so grey now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Advent wreath has 4 candles that symbolise 4 sundays prior to Christmas. Tommorow is first Advent Sunday and we will light up first candle during dinner. Next sunday, it is time for two candles to light, then three and the last sunday before Christmas, four candles will light.
In my house, it is family tradition that the youngest of the family puts out the candles, but not by blowing, but with wine-dipped piece of bread.
That is something that my grandmother thought me when I was a child.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pogledajte i moj drugi adventski vjenčić :)
Check out ma other Advent Corolla :)
