Narodna nošnja / National Folk Costume

National Folk Costume - Pirovac, Croatia

Turistička sezona je u punom jeku,
a pošto je Pirovac turističko mjesto,
moje prijateljice i ja, članice udruge "Loza", smo odlučile napraviti malu feštu;
posudile samo narodne nošnje,
napravile kroštule i fritule,
donijele razne rakije vlastite proizvodnje,
te počastile goste u starom dijelu sela.

I live in a tourist resort,
and since it is a peak of a summer season,
my friends and I, members of a "Loza" association,
decided to make a little party;
we borrowed national folk costumes,
made traditional sweets kroštule and fritule,
brought verious types of homemade brendies,
and treated guests in old part of our village.




 Sa ovim slikama se opraštam sa vama
na jedno mjesec dana, dok ne stane gužva.

I will leave this photos as a keepsake for a month,
because I am taking a summer break, too.



Pošto svaka slika govori tisuću riječi,
ostavljam vas da da osjetite dio atmosfere te večeri.

Since every photo can replace tousand words,
I hope you can feel the atmosfere of that evening.

Ukiseljeni omucalj / Pickled Agretti

Omucalj, osmuhalj, ošmugalj, agretti, salsola soda, fratrova brada

Toliko imena za taj mali grmić!
Već sam spominjala omucalj (kako se kod nas kaže), 
raste u našem vrtu, ali se može naći i divlji na obali mora .

Ovako je izgledao u svibnju:


So many names for this little shrub!
I have already mentioned Agretti, it grows in our garden,
 but you can easily find it on the sea shore growing wild, as well.

 Uskoro će mu doći kraj,
pa ovih dana ga blanširam i zamrzavam u većim količinama,
da se ove zime može jesti sa blitvom.

Naišla sam i na recept za kiseljenje na Coolinarci, 
možete ga pročitati OVDJE ,
vrlo jednostavan:
  • 1/3 alkoholnog octa
  • 2/3 vode
  • papar u zrnu
  • kuhati nekoliko minuta omucalj u mješavini octa i vode, prebaciti u sterilizirane staklenke, zaliti tekućinom u kojoj se kuhao, dodati malo papra u zrnu, zatvoriti
  • konzumirati nakon 2 tjedna 

Its season will be over soon,
so I am preserving it for winter time.
I boil it for a minute only, then let it chill and freeze it,
so we can prepare it with some fresh mangold this winter.

I also found how to pickled it,
you can read about it  HERE,
it is very easy:
  • 1/3 of alcohol vinegar
  • 2/3 water
  • pepper
  • boil Agretti in mixture of vinegar and water for a few minutes only, put it into sterilized jars, pour the water it boiled in,  add some pepper, close the lid
  • try it after 2 weeks



Prvi put ga kiselim,
nadam se da će dobro ispasti,
da se moj muž može hvaliti ;)

I am pickeling it for the first time, 
I hope it turns eadible,
so my husband can brag about it ;)

Čokoladne okruglice / Chocolate Truffles

Chocolate Truffles made of cake leftovers

Vrlo brz i jednostavan desert napravljen od ostataka biskvita!

Very simple and quick dessert made out of leftovers!



Nedavno sam radila tortu u obliku leptira, 
koju možete vidjeti OVDJE.
Ostalo mi je nešto biskvita kad sam izrezala 
leptirova krila i tijelo, a te ostatke nisam bacila nego sam ih...

I recently made a Butterfly birthday cake,
you can see it HERE.
I had some leftovers when I cut butterfly wings and body
that I didn't want to waiste but...



...razmrvila prstima...

...crumbled it with fingers...



... dodala par rebara otopljene čokolade i malo maslaca...

... added some melt chocolate and some butter...



...smiješala sve skupa u jednoličnu masu...

...mixed all together well...



...napravila kuglice i uvaljala ih u kokosovo brašno.

... formed some truffles and  rolled them in coconut flour.



I izgledom i okusom su me podsjetile na čupavce.
Bile bi još bolje da je u sredini, na primjer, višnja ili lješnjak.

It would be even better if I had some cherry or haselnut 
to wrap with this cake leftovers.

Leptir rođendanska torta / Butterfly Birthday Cake

Butterfly Birthday Cake

"...Leptiriću šarenčiću, dođi meni 'amo,
evo imam lijepu ružu, pomiriši samo!
Ja bih doš'o, al' se bojim igle tvoje klete,
probost ćeš me, ubost ćeš me, onda - zbogom, svijete!!..."

Kad malo bolje promislim, 
nije baš vesela ova dječja pjesmica...

Ali je zato torta bila!



  Maloj ljepotici je treći rođendančić.
A pošto to nije mala stvar, sama je izabrala kakvu tortu hoće.
Prošle godina je bila bubamara,
ove godine je zaželjela leptira.

This beautiful little girl had her third birthday.
Since it was a big deal for her, she got to pick a cake.
Last year she had a Ladybug Cake,
this year she decided to go for a butterfly.



 Prvo sam morala vidjeti koja mi podloga može stati u frižider.
Izbor je pao na dasku za rezanje kruha.
U ovu je svrhu omotana folijom.
Kad su mi postale jasne dimenzije budućeg leptira,
nacrtala sam ga na papiru za pečenje i izrezala sve dijelove.

First I had to see which base I can fit into my fridge.
I chose this bread cutting board that I wrapped into foil.
When I got dimensions for the future butterfly,
I drew it on backing paper and cut all pieces off.




Spekla sam 2 najveće roštijere (rerne, pleha) biskvita.
Za kremu sam izmiksala 2 pudinga od vanilije (kuhano u 8 dcl mlijeka) 
sa otprilike 250 ml šlaga Meggle.
Plus dva kompota od bresaka.

I baked 2 of the biggest forms I have for my oven.
For the cream, I mixed 2 vanilla flavored pudding (boiled into 8 dcl of milk)
with cca. 250 ml of whipped cream.
And I  used 2 peach cans.



Izrezala sam konture lepira.

I cut out the contours of a butterfly.



I dobila sam ovo.
Od ostatka biskvita možete napraviti čokoladne okruglice.

So, I got this. 
From the leftovers, you can make simple chocolate truffles.



Posložila sam sve djelove na podlogu,

I arranged all pieces on the base,



nanijela malo kreme, pa ocijeđene breskve, pa opet kremu,

layed some cream, then dried peaches, then some cream again,




pa prekrila sa gornjim biskvitom.

and topped  it with upper layer.



Cijelu tortu sam namazala šlagom,
obojala fondant (ticcino) koji sam imala od prije bojama.

I spread whipped cream all over the cake,
colored the fondant I had ready with food colorings.




Izrezali smo puuno točkica, velikih i malih u raznim bojama.
Tu je i mala slavljenica pomogla ;)
Rekla je da je baš takvog leptira htjela!

We cut many dots, bigger and smaller in various colors.
Birthday girl also helped ;)
She said that she wanted a butterfly just like this one!




I tako smo dobili leptirića šarenčića!

And that's how we got this piebald butterfly!
