"Naši" labudovi / "Our" Swans

Mute Swans in Croatia / Grbavi labudovi

Jučer smo ispratili našeg dragog lignjolovca, kao obično.

We sent off our dearest fishermen yesterday, as usual.

But, we weren't the only ones who saw him off...

Righ next to our pear, two swan couples were sunbathing.

My son run off for some bread and started to feed them.

Bili su prijateljski raspoloženi.

Swans were in a very friendly mood.

Dino se malo bojao, ipak su to divlje životinje.

Dino was a little bit afraid, they are wild animals, after all.

Now we know that is autum, regardles of sunny days and the date on a calender!

Ovi labudovi dolaze u naše selo već godinama.

These swans are comming to our village for years.

Dolaze na zimovanje :)

They are comming to spend the winter here :)

Zovu se Grbavi labudovi,
malo više o njima možete pročitati OVDJE.

These are Mute Swans,
a little more about them you can read HERE.

They usually sleep on the same spot,
at the old part of the village, on a shore, tuckled into fishermens' nets.

Prošle godine ih je bilo 7.
Valjda će uskoro stići i ostatak obitelji.
Last year there was 7 of them.
Hopefully the rest of the family will arrive shortly.

Provode svoje dane tražeći hranu,
plivajući od jednog kraja sela do drugoga.

They spent their days looking for food,
swimming from one end of the village to the other.

Kad zima završi, odlaze na sjever.
Radujemo se svojim zimskih gostima svake godine.

When winter is over, they are going back north.
We are looking forward to these winter guests every year.

Have a nice day!

Kraj ljeta / The End of the Summer

Bye, bye Summer :(

Volim ovo doba godine,

It is the end of the summer.
Since we work all summer long,
this season of the year just pass by me, I can't get a hold of it at all.
I love this part of the year,
beaches are almost empty, but weather is warm enough for sun-bathing.

Girls at Izazovi i slatkiši honored me
by choosing me as guest designer for September.
Earlier this month I already enrolled in a challenge with a project
Couple of days ago, a new challenge arrived, romance themed.
Hmmm, what to make?...

Pa, pošto već živim u "romantičnom" okruženju,
valjda mogu nešto naći okolo i naokolo.

So, since I live in a "romantic" area,
I guess I can find something around here.

Morske suze

a ponekad i u moru.

Walking by near my home, I noticed that there is some beautiful purple flowers left
that grows between the high and low tide,
and sometimes in the see, as well.
We call it Sea tears.

So, I picked those flowers up,
and after few days I began to arrange the wreath.
In midtime, flowers did dry a little,
loosing its vibrant purple color,
but still remind beautiful, with more subtle shade.

Koristila sam obične škare kojima sam rezala cvijeće i pel za loviti ribe.

I used simple scissors and some fishing thread (or how do you call that?).

I tied up little bouqet (bunch, crosage) of flowers to each other
and finally got beautiful and rich wreath.

(p.s. you can see my husband painting his boat on a pear :)

dodala malo kamenčića i školjkica,
morskih zvjezda, kojeg ježinca, rplja...

I lied the wreath on a glass cake stand,
added some pebbles and shells,
starfish, sea urchins...

... i odnijela vjenčić na plažu,
ulila vino u čaše,
potražila pogledom svoga muža,
koji je maloprije bio tu negdje...

...and took the wreath on a beach,
poured some wine,
looked for my husband,
who was around me just a moment ago...

... i u tom trenu začula kako se pali brodski motor,
i njegov glas "Ne mogu sad, žurim, već pada mrak
(a to je moment za lignjolov),
druuugi puuut..."

...and then I heard boat engine started,
and his voice "I can't do it right now, I have to go, it's almost dark
(and that's moment when calamaries bite the most),
some ooother tiiiimeee..."

Fini, stariji gospodin.
Popili smo vino zajedno, mahali mome mužu,
malo porazgovarali,
smijali se mome aranžmanu na plaži.
Rekao je da je bilo jaaako romantično :))

Well, what can a girl do?
Luckily, my neightbor was taking his walk then.
Nice, older gentleman.
We drinked some wine, waved to my husband ,
talked a little,
laughed to my beach arrangment.
He said it was sooo romantic :))

 How do you like it?
