When Life Gives You Lemons / Kad dobijete neprskane limune
When Life Gives You Lemons... |
Naš urod organsko uzgojenih, neprskanih, netretiranih limuna je...
... točno 2 komada :)
Our crop of organically grown, unsprayed, untreated lemon is...
...exactly 2 pieces :)
Ali, imam sreće da drugima uzgoj limuna ide od ruke,
tako da svake godine dobijem vrećicu netretiranih limuna.
But I get lucky each year and receive a bag
full of untreated lemons from people more agile then I am.

Teško je doći do netretiranih limuna,
zato ih nastojim iskoristi u potpunosti.
Its hard to find untreated lemons on the market,
so when I have some,
I really try to make the most of it.
Limune operem i svakome naribam koricu.
Ovakvi limuni imaju vrlo glatku koru,
tako da ribanje traje.
Wash and grate each lemon.
I noticed that these lemons have smoother skin then regular ones,
so grating takes time.
Posudicu za led napunim koricom,
te dodam još malo vode u svaku kockicu
da se lakše zaledi.
Put grated zest into ice tray
and cover the zest with little bit of water
so it could freeze easier.
Ocijedim sok,
obično ručno.
Ali samo zato što mi se ne da prati sokovnik :)
Squeeze the juice.
I usually make it by hand,
but only because I don't feel like washing juicer machine later on :)
Napunim posudice za led.
Fill the ice tray with lemon juice.
Posudice za led su spremne za zamrzivač.
Ice trays are ready for freezer.
Sutradan izvadim zaleđene kockice,
stavim u vrećice i natrag u zamrzivač.
Kad mi zatreba korica ili sok od limuna,
izvadim kockicu ili odlomim koliko mi treba.
Take the lemon ice tray from the freezer tomorrow,
place cubes into bags
and put them back in freezer.
When I need some zest or lemon juice,
I can take as much as I want.

Limunovu koricu, ali i sok
koristim u mnogim kolačima i jelima.
I use lemon zest or lemon juice
in many recepies, sweet and savory.

Oh my Ana! I had no idea people do that. It is very smart. I am so spoiled here, I actually have a lemon farm so I take them for granted and throw them away after I squeeze one just a bit. Shame on me. On the other hand, my sons who live in the States pay so much for lemons. I'll have to pin this tip for future use when I am away from the farm.
ReplyDeleteHi, Mary! I use quite a bit of lemons in our diet, expecially lemon zest. I feel more comfortable to use it when I know it was not treated chemically.
DeleteLemon farm, wow! Love it!
That's a really great idea, I wonder if you can do that with oranges too... Thank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party this week. Pinned!
