Marine Advent wreath / Morski adventski vjenčić
Ove godine sam odlučila napraviti nešto "morsko".
This year I have decide to make "marine" like wreath.
Kupila sam bež svječice i ukrasni konopac,
pronašla slamnati vijenac i postolja za svijeće.
I bought 4 beige candles and decorative rope,
find my straw form and candles' holders.
Prošetala se oko kuće i nabrala tri vrste smrike,
odnosno obične borovice, kadulju, maslinove grančice
i grančice magunje, odnosno planike.
I took a walk around my house and cut some olive tree brenches,
some sage, hree different kinds of Common Juniper
and some Strawberry tree brenches.
Arbutus
unedo (strawberry
tree, occasionally cane apple)
is an evergreen shrub or small tree,
native to the Mediterranean region.
In October it has red berries that we use for mermelade
and brandy production.
Grančice sam uvukla u slamu.
I put all of those brenches into straw form.
Dodala sam svječice i mašne od konopca.
Then I put candles and rope bows.
I dodala neke morske stvari;
And put some "marine" stuff;
kućice od morskog ježa,
sea urchin,
morske zvijezde, jednog volka (rplja, kažemo mi)
starfish and a winkle,
školjke - to su kućice (po našu - kunjke)...
some shells...
Marine Advent wreath on sea side.
I am so sorry that this day wasn't brighter,
everything looks so grey now.

This Advent wreath has 4 candles that symbolise 4 sundays prior to Christmas. Tommorow is first Advent Sunday and we will light up first candle during dinner. Next sunday, it is time for two candles to light, then three and the last sunday before Christmas, four candles will light.
In my house, it is family tradition that the youngest of the family puts out the candles, but not by blowing, but with wine-dipped piece of bread.
That is something that my grandmother thought me when I was a child.

ReplyDeleteMe too, I have never seen such a beautiful and creative wreath! I can understand your pain with the grey weather (here we had 3 weeks non-stop of heavy grey dark clouds) but even so the wonderful colors of deep green and silver green and ultramarine+green and the different shapes of the leaves are... amazing!
